Threats of the Land

Past experiences lay the path and lead the way for my wonder

Painting pictures from memory

Reminders, full of moving color

Trigger

Pain resurrected

Re-lived warnings of danger

By my bloodstream, the drum of hurrying soldiers racing to the frontlines of my heart

They set their walls of defense

Their mission--to seek out enemy threats by familiar signs of danger

To act before possible attack

Even when the threat lies at the throne of the heart

For this brings danger to all the land

My mind, the military leader

Shouting orders

Bearing the burden of knowing

What lies beyond the commands

The heart may have to go

Thousands of troops responding to the call of their leader

The clangs of swords upon shields

Boots thundering

Vibrating the heart’s walls

Hands surrendered up

Knowing the good of what's to follow

It's only source of strength

The heart must die to thine own desires

Die to thine own self

For this is where freedom of the land lies in wait

At the death of the heart’s heavy throne
